The nonlinear evolution equations have many applications, in particular in physics, chemistry and biology. This domain interests a wide mathematical community in the world. Besides the theoretical aspects, the modelling has numerous applications and became a major tool in nonlinear evolution equations. It is now considered as about an important domain of development. The various recent mathematical methods and the last most significant progress in this domain need to be exchanged and developed with the countries of North Africa, the Mediterranean Basin and the other nearby countries.

The objectives of the school are:

  • To introduce graduate and advanced undergraduate students to the current research in the field, facilitate students .
  • To get connections with international researchers which help them to get funding or at least acceptance for further studies abroad.
  • To promote the development of the subject through academic exchange among Southamerican researchers.
  • To update the knowledge of the local mathematical community by inviting senior local and international researchers.

Local analytic geometry is concerned with germs of zero sets of analytic functions, that is, the study of such sets in the neighbourhood of a point.

The school intends to introduce PhD students and young researchers to local analytic geometry and to enable them to receive the required knowledge for doing significant research in this area of mathematics.

The organization of this school is motivated by the promising potential and the good scientific level of students and young researchers in the field of differential geometry in Lebanon and in the neighboring countries (Iraq, Jordan, Syria ..). The school aims to be a unifying project for young researchers in Lebanon who recently graduated a PhD in the field of differential geometry, and thus facilitate the emergence of a research team on this issue in Lebanon.

The school will focus on modern applications of mathematics in industry and society with emphasis on problems involving partial differential equations, probabilistic modelling, and stochastic processes. Topics include advanced methods in applied mathematics, fast algorithms for optimization and control, and applications of Stochastic Processes. These lectures aim to bring junior scientists and graduate students up to current development in the field.

This school aims to bring together researchers in Statistics from Europe, USA and Latin America with a twofold purpose. First, the school has a formative character directed to offer young Latin American researchers a broad perspective of some leading current developments in Mathematical Statistics including, among others, models in mathematical finance, stochastic geometry, high-dimensional and functional data and nonparametric methodologies.

By bringing together young researchers (of Argentina and neighboring countries in particular but not only), a central overall objective is to fill an area of vacancy in Argentine mathematics, both at the research and the formation level. While a few well established probability schools are regularly held in Brazil, it remains a challenge to build a strong tradition of probability in Argentina.
