The three French Mathematical Societies, SFdS, SMAI and SMF have created in 2009 the prize Ibni Oumar Mahamat Saleh in his memory. It has been awarded annually to a young mathematician of Central or West Africa and has been funding a scientific visit of a few months every year since 2009 until 2015.
The awardees of the 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 et 2015 Ibni Prizes were respectively: Oumarou Abdou Arbi from Niger, Amadou Tall from Senegal,Solym Mawaki Sanou Abi from Tog, El Hadji Deme from Senegal, Koffi Wilfrid Houedanou from Togo, David Jaures Fotsa Mbogne, from Cameroon and Valaire Yatat Djeumen from Cameroon.
The Ibni Prize has been redefined. It becomes a thesis prize and will be awarded to two persons every two years.
The campaign for the 2018 Ibni Prize is now open.
